SB49, also known as the Parents Bill of Rights, has been passed as law (and, as such, is now officially known as State Law 2023-106). Among other rules, it requires teachers and other school personnel to notify parents of any change in name or pronouns of the student. This compromises the safety of trans students throughout DPS. The law would out students to their parents without their consent and risk the student's mental and physical safety. We made posters to put up around school to inform students, teachers, and others about the law. We hope that raising awareness of the law keeps the conversation going and encourages people to pressure the school board to not comply with the legislation.
